Hello, I am Lucas
Project manager. Parent. An expat living in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much larger.
The first months were challenging — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of trial-and-error learning. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began to build something that felt steady.
Why I Built Rose Wood Works
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site is here to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical experience gained from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- Not a resource from a tourism authority
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Portugal continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Lucas
